Hey Curl Friend!
Before Coko the Natural- I was just, Nicole -A Boston girl who had big dreams after being the first in her family to achieve her bachelors degree.
Fun fact: 'Coko' is a childhood nickname and today a name I'm proud to brand!
Doing hair in my mother's kitchen as a teen, cutting my bangs or nursing my curls back to health after heat damage would have never prepared me for a life in cosmetology!
It wasn't until I was at my first big girl job in insurance that I realized my conversations always went back to hair and I had no creative outlet. I quit my corporate job in 2018 and decided that I was going to start my journey in the beauty industry!
Today, I help every day women, fellow stylists, salons and brands learn more about textured hair care. I give personalized knowledge and techniques That Work!

2018
I enrolled myself in the Aveda Institute for Cosmetology. I knew I wanted to work specifically with curly hair being that I was on my own natural hair journey. I also started as a receptionist/ salon assistant at one of the top natural hair salons in Atlanta.
At 27- I was starting over.
2019
I graduated cosmetology school. I decided that I was also going to start posting more on social media sharing my story, my hair journey, tips and product recommendations. I enjoyed sharing and building a community surrounding the very thing I loved - Hair!
I had no idea what was next for me.
2020
I joined OLAPLEX as an advocate- spreading the OLAPLEX love for curls specifically after seeing the way it changed my hair from frizzy to the uniformed healthy curls I always desired. This is the same year I also joined Cultured Studios as a stylist to start my stylist journey.
I was finally on my way!
2021
While I was working as a full time stylist, I was often getting invited to work with major brands to create content and also model for texture exclusive brands. I really liked being around industry people and meeting fellow beauty leaders- learning. I felt that education was really my calling and decided to pivot!
Pivoting for the Pro!
2022
All the knowledge I gained working with brands, clients and beauty leaders- I wanted to bridge the gap in texture knowledge. I was offered a position at the start of 2022 as a consultant/ educator for OLAPLEX. I was able to get share my expertise and give essential feed back while teaching on behalf a brand I respected. I was able to teach my first class at the Bronner Brothers Hair Show!
